Pier 62 Shawl
The Pier 62 shawl is named after a pier on the vibrant Seattle waterfront. It has been designed, in collaboration with Botanical Yarn, especially for Flock Fiber Festival in Seattle. Designed using a lovely lightweight Neon Nep Fluff Suri Alpaca yarn with 2 coordinating mini skeins, the shawl is worked in a simple garter stitch with slip stitch detail, created using very simple intarsia with the mini skeins, next to the icord edge. The design is striking yet simple and would suit everyone making it a perfect accessory or gift knit!
Information:
Yarn: 1 x 100g (400m) of fingering weight yarn and 2 x 20g (85m) fingering weight mini skeins
Sample knit using: 1 x 100g (400m) of Neon Nep Fluff Suri Alpaca (42% Merino, 32% Superfine
Alpaca, 18% Donegal Neon Neps, 8% Linen) in colour way Pampas Grass and 2 x 20g (85m
each) sock yarn (75% SW Merino, 25% Nylon) in the colour ways Monarda and Dahlia Peach.
Needles: suggested needles US 4/3.5mm or needles required to get gauge
Gauge: 24 sts and 48 rows to 10 cm over garter st unblocked
Gauge is important, especially when you may be using a special single skein. I suggest
knitting Section one and using this as your gauge swatch.
These patterns use most of one
skein, so you probably won’t have enough to do a separate gauge swatch.
Measurements: Approximately: wingspan 170 cm/68” and depth 21 cm/8.5”
